The Programme Board

The programme board for 21st century schools

About the Programme Board

A Programme Board has been created with equal membership drawn from WAG and local authorities (represented by the WLGA, Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) and Association of Directors of Education in Wales (ADEW)) together with Diocesan representation and Colleges Wales.

There are six meetings each year, three being chaired by the Children, Education and Lifelong Learning (CELL) Minister and the WLGA spokesperson for Education and Lifelong Learning.

The Board is responsible for advising the Minister on the establishment of a 21st Century Schools Standard and the roll-out of the Programme over an extended period of 15 or more years.  The Board is advised and supported by officials from the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) and the WLGA.
