Community Benefits

Community Benefits

Delivery of added value through Community Benefits policy must be an integral consideration in procurement.

Community Benefits are highlighted as part of the Wales Procurement Policy Statement made by the Finance Minister, December 2012.

It is essential that all local authority business cases include community benefits and a benefits realisation plan.  These benefits are a critical part of the 21st Century Schools and Education Capital programme so that all funded projects are ‘fit for purpose’.  They also ensure wider social, environmental and economic issues are also taken into account during the project life cycle.

Please visit the Procurement Route Planner website for the most up-to-date guidance and for access to the Welsh Community Benefits Measurement Tool. This can help local authorities measure the success (‘value’) of their use for each of their projects in the 21st Century Schools and Education Capital Programme.
