Ashgrove Special School, Penarth

Ashgrove Special school has invested both revenue and capital in developing their outside spaces.

He works with students to develop spaces that offer sensory experiences, promote wildlife, and support food growing.  The school has been inventive in their outdoor development: lots of different materials and textures have been used to offer variety and stimulation; retired musical instruments have been installed for auditory stimulus and recycled play equipment has been employed as planters.

Clearly the grounds are a working part of the school, students are actively encouraged to get involved and take responsibility for looking after their environment and a good-sized shed provides a spacious working environment for messier activities.
